Davis Meltzer

Davis Paul Meltzer (* 1929 in  Huntingdon Valley,  Pennsylvania,  USA, † 20. Oktober 2017^[1]) ist ein US-amerikanischer Illustrator, Titelbildzeichner und Designer. Als Sohn des Künstlerehepaars Arthur und Paulette Meltzer hat er deren zeichnerisches Talent geerbt.^[2]

Davis Meltzer schuf als freiberuflicher Künstler in den 1970er Jahren zahlreiche SF-Buchillustrationen. Er war zeitweise für die  NASA tätig und arbeitete 30 Jahre lang als wissenschaftlicher Illustrator für  National Geographic in  Washington, D.C.^[2] Für die Comic-Serie Perry - Unser Mann im All wurden zwei seiner Coverzeichnungen neu verwendet. Auch erschienen einige seiner Entwürfe auf offiziellen Briefmarken der US-amerikanischen Post.^[3] Heute sieht er seine Kunst durch die Computertechnik als überflüssig geworden an.^[2]

Er lebt in Huntingdon Valley.^[2]
